DIALLOG and Mobilink sign Interconnect Agreement
[27.12.2005]

Great Bear International Services (Pvt) Limited, one of the leading and the only complete foreign investment company in Pakistan in the Wireless Local Loop (WLL) arena, operating under the brand name of DIALLOG, has signed an interconnect agreement with Mobilink - the country’s largest cellular mobile operator.

DIALLOG is deploying CDMA450 WLL network in Pakistan and continues to look for opportunities to provide CDMA services in the new and emerging telecom markets. The company endeavours to employ a unique and innovative approach in providing WLL services for pervasive voice and data connectivity, using globally accepted standards and technologies that promise faster and better services at competitive rates.

The interconnect agreement was signed by Major (Retd) Muhammad Kamil Khan, Director Regulatory, Corporate and Public Affairs and Mr. Ahmed Nadeem Syed, Director Interconnect Mobilink on behalf of their respective organizations.

The agreement would go a long way in providing improved grade of service to the DIALLOG customers with no congestion or call drops. Initially the interconnect is for one way - for call completion into the Mobilink network only. DIALLOG pursed and signed the agreement to provide relief to it’s customers by ensuring uninterrupted communication with the over ten million customer base of Mobilink. The interconnect will benefit both the operators as the direct interconnection will result in increased traffic between the two networks.

Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) is negotiating a more viable interconnect agreement with Mobilink as the Significant Market Player (SMP) for the cellular mobile market. It would be in line with the Reference Interconnect Offer (RIO) agreed with PTCL as the SMP for the fixed telephony. The interconnect agreement signed between DIALLOG and Mobilink will be governed by the PTA approved RIO for cellular mobile telephony. Upon that happening, both companies shall resume direct bilateral termination of each other’s traffic over their respective networks.
