ISLAMABAD - Having a chance of projecting its rapid telecom industry growth, Pakistan would be hosting 10th Session of Asia-Pacific Tele-community moot on November 30, 2005.
The session of APT’s supreme policy making General Assembly, first ever in Pakistan, would be followed by a four-day session of its management committee for review and budget approving deliberations. The management committee would be having its 29th session from December 5-8, 2005.
On behalf of the government of Pakistan, Pakistan Telecom Authority would be the host of the APT moot, primarily aimed, inter alia, at election of president and two vice presidents for the next term. However, presentations, project proposals, and inter-industry discussions would be the compulsory part of the moot.
The APT, an inter-governmental body is dedicated to development of telecom and information telecom technology in the region besides assisting the members in exchange of technologies. The forum also helps develop the best solutions for capacity building and technology transfer through mutual help and cooperation of other international regional organisations, UN agencies, and various other players, notable in the international telecom industry. The APT is an all-encompassing body providing opportunity at a time to policy makers, regulators, carriers, service providers, manufacturers, and researchers.
Having scientifically planned and a sound organisational infrastructure APT is 33-member body, with four associate members and 102 affiliate members. General Assembly is the apex authority empowered for policy and review.
