SCO and DIALLOG to Jointly Establish Wireless Networks Across Northern Areas
[19.05.2008]
DIALLLOG

May 14, 2008, Special Communications Organization and DIALLOG have agreed to jointly establish the first Wireless Local Loop (WLL) network across the Northern Areas of Pakistan. The network is being launched under the brand name SCO CDMA, and will gradually replace the old analogue WLL system in the 450MHz frequency band. Together the two operators aim to develop seamless access to the best communication facilities, to bridge the gap and help the people inhabiting the most difficult and inaccessible Northern Areas of Pakistan to stay connected with the rest of the world at all times.

Under the joint venture, SCO and DIALLOG together will deploy and operate state-of-the-art CDMA450 network, which will bring modern telephony and high speed Internet access to widely dispersed population under extreme weather conditions in the Northern Areas.

The SCO CDMA service is being launched in the 450MHz frequency band, a unique spectrum which allows the widest reach compared to any other wireless network. Lower frequency results in better propagation of the signal and expanded coverage, which is a tremendous advantage across rugged and treacherous mountainous terrain of the Northern Areas. Globally recognized CDMA450 technology will bring an economically viable coverage to the remotest parts of Northern Areas of Pakistan with distinct advantages of clarity of voice, broadband Internet access, security and value added services. Internet services through wireless technology will greatly facilitate the local populace as well as the wide majority of tourists visiting the beautiful scenic areas of the northern regions of Pakistan.

The new WLL service from SCO will complement its rich portfolio of services: SCO GSM (SCOM), PSTN, ISP and others, making SCO a one stop solution provider for any telecommunication needs. The new Wireless Local Loop network will bring to the people of Northern Areas a fixed phone connection in minutes and will be launched this summer.

This joint effort further underlines SCO and DIALLOG’s commitment to build telecom infrastructure of Pakistan and provide the consumer in the remotest areas with world-class communication services.
